What is Ableton Live?

Ableton Live is a digital audio workstation (DAW) used for music production, recording, composition, and live performance. It allows musicians, producers, and DJs to create and manipulate audio and MIDI in a flexible software environment designed for both studio work and real-time performance.

Ableton Live features two primary working modes: Session View and Arrangement View. Session View allows users to launch audio and MIDI clips in a grid format, making it easy to experiment with loops, beats, and musical ideas in real time. Arrangement View provides a traditional timeline where users can structure songs, edit recordings, and arrange full compositions.

The software includes built-in instruments, audio effects, MIDI effects, and powerful tools for sampling, sequencing, and sound design. Because of its flexible workflow and strong integration with MIDI controllers, Ableton Live has become widely used in electronic music production, live performance setups, and modern music creation across many genres.
