What is a Busker?

A busker is a street performer who plays music or performs other forms of entertainment in public spaces in exchange for voluntary donations from passersby. Busking commonly takes place in locations such as sidewalks, parks, subway stations, plazas, and busy tourist areas.

Buskers often perform music using instruments such as guitars, violins, keyboards, or percussion, and many also sing while playing. Some performers use small portable amplifiers or battery-powered equipment to project their sound to larger crowds.

In addition to musicians, buskers may include other types of street performers such as dancers, magicians, jugglers, and living statues. The performances are typically informal and designed to attract attention from pedestrians who may stop to watch and offer tips.

Busking has a long history in many cultures and has helped some musicians gain exposure and develop their performance skills. Many artists use busking as a way to share their music with the public, build an audience, and earn money while performing live in public spaces.
