Mississippi Singer-Songwriter Kat King Returns to Music with New EP and Family-Inspired Projects

Mississippi‑born singer‑songwriter Kat King has re‑entered the recording scene after more than two decades spent working in film and production in Los Angeles. Her first new release, the EP Coming Home, was issued in 2025 and features the work of producer and multi‑instrumentalist Erik Rico, who passed away in July 2025.

Coming Home blends bedroom‑pop textures, stripped‑back acoustic arrangements and downtempo electronic production. The EP includes the singles “Making Tracks,” “This Diamond,” and the most recent “Sunshine Girl.” All three tracks were built around lyrics that King’s father, John K.
