Gulf Shores Announces Free Sunset Series Concerts for September 2026

The City of Gulf Shores has announced the 2026 Sunset Series, a trio of free outdoor concerts scheduled for September 3, 10, and 17. The events will take place at the Town Green in Gulf Place, located at 101 Gulf Shores Pkwy. The series is part of the city’s effort to provide family‑friendly entertainment and support local vendors.

Each concert begins at 5 p.m. On the first two nights, a DJ will perform from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by live music from 6 to 8 p.m. The September 17 show will feature live music for the full three hours, from 5 to 8 p.m. All performances are open to the public at no charge.

The lineup showcases a mix of national and regional talent. On September 3, Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band will take the stage. Carrier, a third‑generation Zydeco artist from Louisiana, has been active for 36 years and won a Grammy in 2010 for Best Zydeco or Cajun Album. He has toured internationally and is now involved in music education.

September 10 will feature the rock group Spank the Monkey, which has been active since 1995. The band is known for high‑energy performances that blend 1990s and 2000s rock covers with original material. They have played venues across the Gulf Coast and beyond.

The final concert on September 17 will host the Frank Brown Songwriters Showcase. The event serves as a preview to the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. The Wilson Brothers, award‑winning Alabama songwriters, will open from 5 to 6 p.m. From 6 to 8 p.m., Nashville hit songwriter Craig Campbell and Gulf Coast favorite Johnny Hayes will perform. Campbell, who has released several country hits and founded Grindstone Recordings, is also active in charitable work. Hayes, a Mobile, Alabama artist, has collaborated with several well‑known musicians and received recognition from American Songwriter Magazine.

City officials highlighted the community aspect of the series. Grant Brown, Director of Gulf Shores Recreation & Cultural Affairs, said the city is proud to continue the Sunset Series and that Gulf Place Public Beach has become a beautiful, relaxing spot for residents and visitors.

In addition to music, the event will feature food trucks and a presence from the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, which will sell beverages for all ages. The series is part of Gulf Shores’ broader strategy to promote local businesses and create a welcoming atmosphere for families.
