Influence Media Partners to Acquire Anthem Entertainments Catalogs for $600 Million, BlackRock Funds Back the Deal
In a headline‑making deal that could reshape the catalog landscape, New York‑based Influence Media Partners has signed an agreement to acquire almost the entire library of Anthem Entertainment for a price exceeding $600 million. The purchase will bring Anthem’s music‑publishing catalogs, film‑and‑TV publishing assets and master‑recording portfolio under Influence’s umbrella.
Financing for the transaction is being supplied in part by funds and accounts managed by affiliates of BlackRock, a move that underscores the asset‑heavy strategy of the firm’s Direct Private Opportunities arm. The deal is slated to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending customary closing conditions.
Anthem’s catalog is a sprawling trove of more than 24,000 released songs and 60,000 unexploited works. The holdings include high‑profile titles such as Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again,” Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack,” Timbaland’s “The Way I Are,” Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t,” Rush’s “Tom Sawyer,” and OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars.” The film‑and‑TV component features soundtracks from franchises like Spider‑Man, Men in Black and Lego Ninjago, among others.
Lylette Pizarro McLean, Founder and Co‑Managing Partner of Influence Media, said the acquisition “extends far beyond hit songs – it’s music that has become woven into iconic moments, films, and shows that audiences around the world know and love.” She added that the deal complements Influence’s existing portfolio, which already includes the catalogs of DJ Khaled, Future and Enrique Iglesias.
BlackRock’s involvement comes through its Direct Private Opportunities strategy, which targets high‑quality, scaled intellectual‑property assets. Paul Braude, CIO of Direct Private Opportunities, noted that Anthem’s catalog “exemplifies the high‑quality, scaled intellectual property assets we seek.” BlackRock is advised on the transaction by Clifford Chance and Stikeman Elliott.
The financing was led by Truist, which raised debt to support the transaction and served as financial advisor to Influence. Legal counsel for Influence included Alter, Kendrick & Baron; McDermott Will & Schulte; and McCarthy Tétrault. Anthem’s legal team was Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, with Goldman Sachs acting as the exclusive financial advisor.
Other recent moves in the industry add context to the deal. Sony Music Publishing promoted Ari Gelaw to Senior Vice President, Creative A&R. Based in Los Angeles, Gelaw will head the U.S. R&B/Hip‑Hop team across New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles. She has signed artists such as BigXThaPlug, Monaleo, Victoria Monet, Flo, Samara Cyn and J White, and works with hitmakers Mustard, Ink, Yeat, Leon Thomas and Camper.
Secretly Distribution announced the promotion of Kristian Downs to Executive Director, Platform Operations. Downs will oversee the Digital Operations team and guide the long‑term operational direction for the company’s core platform infrastructure.
Veteran executive Mike Rittberg has left his role as President of Global Distribution at HYBE. Rittberg previously held senior positions at Warner Bros. Records, Verve Records, Bill Silva Management and Big Machine Label Group.
The Anthem acquisition remains subject to customary closing conditions. If all conditions are met, the transaction will finalize in Q4 2026, adding a substantial catalog to Influence Media’s growing portfolio and expanding BlackRock’s footprint in music‑rights ownership.
The simultaneous promotions at Sony Music Publishing and Secretly Distribution, along with Rittberg’s departure from HYBE, reflect ongoing personnel shifts across the music‑rights and distribution sectors as companies adapt to evolving licensing and streaming landscapes.
The current status is that the acquisition agreement has been signed, financing is in place, and the parties are preparing for a Q4 2026 closing. Industry observers will watch the transaction’s completion and its impact on catalog management and licensing opportunities.
