Sofi Tukker and Third Side Music Launch Animal Talk Publishing Joint Venture

Sofi Tukker, the New York‑based electronic duo of Sophie Hawley‑Weld and Tucker Halpern, has announced a new publishing joint venture with independent publisher Third Side Music (TSM) and the duo’s own company, Animal Talk. The partnership will give Animal Talk’s roster access to TSM’s global administration, rights‑management, synchronization and creative services.

The announcement follows a long‑standing relationship between Sofi Tukker and TSM that began in 2017. Since signing, TSM has secured more than 450 sync placements for the duo’s catalog, placing tracks in films, television, video games, trailers and advertising campaigns for brands such as Apple, Smartwater, Peloton, Absolut Vodka, the U.S. Open, Lancôme, Acura and Dolce & Gabbana. Sofi Tukker’s platinum‑ and gold‑certified hits – “Best Friend,” “Purple Hat,” “Summer in New York,” “Original Sin” and “Drinkee” – have benefited from the publisher’s expertise.

According to Sofi Tukker, the collaboration is a “pay‑forward” effort: “We are very proud to pay it forward by bringing other artists into the Third Side family with our new joint venture ‘Animal Talk.’” The duo’s own statement highlights the longevity of their partnership with TSM, noting that the publisher’s work has helped the duo’s music reach audiences worldwide.

Sofi Tukker’s commercial success extends beyond sync. The duo has amassed billions of streams and a Spotify monthly‑listener base of over 7.5 million. Their studio albums – Treehouse, Wet Tennis, Bread and Butter – have charted internationally, and recent singles have appeared on major charts: “Cook” with J Balvin peaked at No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, while “Pick Up the Phone” reached No. 6 on Beatport’s Top 100 Tech House Chart.

Live performances have also reinforced the duo’s profile. Sofi Tukker earned an iHeartRadio Music Award nomination for Dance Artist of the Year in 2023 and has headlined venues such as Red Rocks and Forest Hills Stadium. Their festival appearances include Coachella, Lollapalooza (Chicago, Brazil, Argentina), Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Ultra, Electric Forest, Mad Cool, Sziget, Open’er, Neversea, Lowlands and Tomorrowland. A world tour that began in 2025 covered North and South America, Europe and Asia, with Animal Talk headline shows scheduled across North America in the fall.

Third Side Music, founded in 2005, operates as a fully independent global publisher. The company focuses on synchronization licensing, copyright administration and creative services for artists who seek to maximize the reach of their music. TSM’s exclusive worldwide publishing administration deal with Sofi Tukker, announced this year, marks the next chapter in a partnership that has helped the duo become one of the most exciting acts in electronic music.

The joint venture is positioned to support Animal Talk’s emerging artists by providing the same level of global administration and sync expertise that Sofi Tukker has received. TSM’s infrastructure will handle rights management, royalty collection, and placement opportunities across film, television, gaming and advertising, while Animal Talk will focus on artist development and creative output.

Industry observers note that the collaboration reflects a broader trend of artists forming publishing alliances to secure more efficient rights management and sync revenue streams. By aligning with an established publisher, Animal Talk’s roster can leverage TSM’s established relationships with major brands and media outlets.

At present, the venture is in its launch phase. Sofi Tukker and TSM have not announced a specific launch date for Animal Talk’s first releases, but the partnership is expected to begin generating sync placements for the roster’s catalog in the coming months.

The joint venture underscores the importance of strategic publishing partnerships in the modern music economy, where synchronization opportunities continue to be a significant revenue source for artists and labels alike.
