Primary Wave Teams Up With Jesus Jones Frontman Mike Edwards to Manage His Catalog
On July 6, 2026, Primary Wave Music announced a partnership with Mike Edwards, the lead singer and songwriter of the British alternative rock band Jesus Jones. The deal covers Edwards’ catalog, including the band’s debut album Liquidizer (1989), the breakthrough second album Doubt (1991) and the 2001 release London. Under the agreement, Edwards will receive support from Primary Wave’s marketing, digital strategy, licensing, sync and film‑and‑TV production teams.
Jesus Jones burst onto the international scene in the early 1990s. Their single “Right Here Right Now” from Doubt peaked at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1991, while the album topped the UK Albums Chart and earned platinum certification in the United States. That year the band also received two Grammy nominations: “Right Here Right Now” for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Doubt for Best Alternative Music Album. Other chart‑topping tracks from the same era include “Real Real Real”, “International Bright Young Thing” and “Info Freako”.
Edwards said the partnership was “thrilling” and “exciting” because it places him alongside a roster of “enormous talents” and opens new avenues for his past work while focusing on future projects.
Justin Dowling, Executive Vice‑President for UK & Europe at Primary Wave, added that the company is honored to work with Edwards and highlighted his skill in blending sampling with rock guitar to reach a global audience.
Founded in 2006 by Lawrence Mestel, Primary Wave began as a music‑publishing and administration firm and has since expanded into talent management, film and TV production, digital marketing and branding. The company owns a sizable catalog of songs and has made several high‑profile acquisitions since 2016. The new partnership with Edwards aligns with Primary Wave’s strategy of providing comprehensive publishing services to artists who have built enduring catalogs.
For Edwards, the deal means increased visibility for his catalog in contemporary media. Primary Wave’s licensing arm will pursue sync opportunities in advertising, film, television and gaming, while its digital team will work on streaming strategy and data‑driven marketing. The partnership also gives Edwards access to the company’s established relationships with major broadcasters and production houses, potentially expanding the reach of Jesus Jones’ music beyond its original fan base.
The announcement comes at a time when independent publishers are actively seeking artists with proven catalogs to diversify their portfolios. By partnering with Edwards, Primary Wave adds a catalog that has already proven successful in the 1990s and continues to generate revenue through licensing and streaming.
As of today, the partnership is active and both parties are working on a rollout plan for future sync placements and marketing initiatives. No specific dates for new releases or campaigns have been disclosed.
