OY Productions Launches Free Music Producer Empowerment Workshop in Lagos
On 19 August 2021, OY Productions announced a free workshop designed for both emerging and established music producers. Titled Music Producer Empowerment, the event will unfold on 21 August at Diamond Vibez Studio in Lekki, Lagos State. The workshop is headed by the company’s founder, Odunayo Yusuf, a seasoned producer, sound engineer and music instructor who has spent more than 15 years shaping tracks across Afrobeats, Afro‑swing, Afro‑house, Afro‑pop, reggae‑dancehall and zouk.
Yusuf’s résumé reads like a playlist of hits, with credits alongside high‑profile artists such as Olamide, Awilo Longomba, Patoranking, Stonebwoy and Wande Coal. In his announcement, he highlighted the workshop’s aim: to give participants a comprehensive view of music production and promotion. "For some, it might be to become a better marketer for their beats and for others to improve their mixing and mastering skills or to acquire the necessary gadgets to start," Yusuf said.
The free event will bring together a panel of industry professionals. In addition to Yusuf, attendees will hear from Milla Mix, Fliptyce Beatz and music lawyer Akinyemi Ayinoluwa. The panel will address practical aspects of the business, from marketing strategies and legal considerations to the technical nuances of mixing and mastering. Yusuf added, "There is something to learn for everyone. No one knows it all in this business, so we encourage everyone who can attend to make a date with us."
Only 30 seats are available, and participants who secure a spot will not only acquire knowledge but may also walk away with tangible resources. Organisers noted that lucky attendees could leave with an assortment of music gear, software, sample packs and plugins. The workshop is positioned as a stepping‑stone for producers eager to elevate their craft and navigate the commercial side of the industry.
