Young Guru Launches Full-Tuition Scholarship for One Student at Long Island Universitys Roc Nation School

Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton, a Grammy‑winning audio engineer and producer, announced on June 30 that he will sponsor a full‑tuition scholarship for a single prospective student enrolling at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU). The award covers the cost of a four‑year degree for the Fall 2026 semester.

Applicants must be seeking admission to the Roc Nation School for the Fall 2026 term and submit a written response or a video no longer than three minutes. The submission should explain how the applicant defines success, how the scholarship will help them become the best version of themselves, and where they see themselves in ten years. Applications are accepted until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on July 17, 2026.

The scholarship includes more than tuition coverage. The recipient will receive full tuition for all four years, the opportunity to shadow Young Guru throughout the academic year, and one‑on‑one work time in the school’s Dolby Atmos‑enabled professional studio. In addition, the student will be eligible for the Dean’s Scholars Program, which offers professional mentoring, networking opportunities and career‑development programming.

The Roc Nation School, which opened its Brooklyn campus in 2021, offers bachelor’s degrees in music, sports, entrepreneurship and entertainment. It has attracted a number of high‑profile benefactors, including Grammy‑winning artists Megan Thee Stallion and DJ Khaled, and NBA All‑Star La Melo Ball. Keaton himself previously sponsored a full‑tuition scholarship in 2022, and the school’s scholarship portfolio has expanded to include several other awards.

Keaton’s announcement follows his recent New York Music Month masterclass, “Inside the Mix: Young Guru in the Studio.” The event gave participants a behind‑the‑scenes look at the creative and technical processes behind some of the industry’s most famous recordings.

Students selected for the scholarship will begin their studies at the Roc Nation School during the Fall 2026 semester. The program’s emphasis on practical experience, mentorship and state‑of‑the‑art facilities—such as the Dolby Atmos studio—aligns with Keaton’s stated goal of preparing students to shape the future of the music industry.

The scholarship is a significant investment in the next generation of music‑industry professionals. By covering tuition and providing direct access to a seasoned engineer, the award offers a rare combination of financial support and hands‑on learning.

Applications will close on July 17, 2026, and the selected student will start coursework in September 2026. The Roc Nation School’s website lists the scholarship as part of its broader Hope Scholarship program, which aims to provide tuition‑free education to a portion of each incoming class.

For more information on the scholarship and the application process, prospective students should visit the Roc Nation School’s official website or contact the admissions office directly.
