Trever M. Keith Announces Americana-Focused Solo Album "We Drank From A Poisoned Well" for July 10 Release

Trever M. Keith, the long‑time frontman of the So‑Cal punk band Face to Face, will release his first solo album, We Drank From A Poisoned Well, on July 10, 2026. The eleven‑track record marks a clear shift from the high‑energy punk of Face to Face to a more subdued Americana and country sound that reflects Keith’s childhood listening habits in the Mojave Desert and his long‑term residency in Nashville.

The album’s title track and the single “Only Time” were issued earlier this year and are available on major streaming platforms. According to the artist’s website, the songs were written over the past five to seven years while Keith explored acoustic performances with local Nashville musicians. He recorded the project at The Bomb Shelter, a studio in East Nashville, with engineer Drew Carroll. Carroll also assembled the session players that appear on the record.

Keith mixed the album himself in his home studio, then sent the final mix to Bobbi Giel at Welcome To 1979 Mastering in Nashville for the mastering stage. The finished product was pressed on vinyl by United Record Pressing, a Nashville‑based plant that has operated since the late 1940s. The first pressing is a 220‑gram, clear sangria‑colored vinyl with black chips, while a second run of 500 copies will be pressed on a different color.

The artist’s choice of instrument is a Martin D‑15 acoustic guitar, which he says provides a “woody” tone that suits the country aesthetic. He noted that the guitar’s simplicity, lacking the elaborate inlays of higher‑end models, matches the stripped‑down feel of the album.

Keith’s move to Nashville more than 15 years ago was initially motivated by a desire to experience a different part of America, not to pursue country music. Over time, the city’s pervasive country culture influenced his songwriting. He has said that the album is a “quiet disillusionment with America” that draws on the storytelling tradition of 1960s and 1970s country, while avoiding overt political commentary.

The release coincides with Face to Face’s 35th‑anniversary celebrations. The band has scheduled anniversary shows in Los Angeles, Denver, Nashville, New Jersey, Chicago and Toronto, and has reissued its 1997 live album on Antagonist Records. Keith is also developing anniversary‑specific merchandise and a pre‑order campaign for the new album.

While Keith has limited involvement in the current Nashville music scene, he has worked closely with independent local businesses for the album’s production and promotion. He has cited the city’s independent radio stations and publicity firms as key partners in getting the record heard.

The album’s lyrical approach differs from Keith’s earlier punk work. He describes his songwriting as “storytelling” with specific details—names, dates, locations—that aim to create a relatable narrative. This method contrasts with the more abstract lyricism of Face to Face, which often relied on broad emotional themes.

In addition to the studio work, Keith has performed acoustic tours with fellow punk musicians, including a recent run with Russ Rankin of Good Riddance. These performances have helped him refine the acoustic arrangements that appear on the album.

We Drank From A Poisoned Well is available for pre‑save on streaming services and for purchase through Antagonist Records’ online store. The album’s release adds a new dimension to Keith’s catalog, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and his willingness to explore genres outside his punk roots.

The project illustrates how established artists can pivot to new styles while maintaining a connection to their personal musical history. It also highlights Nashville’s role as a hub for independent production, from recording and mastering to vinyl pressing and local promotion.

The album’s launch on July 10, 2026, will be accompanied by a series of promotional events, including interviews, live acoustic sessions, and a vinyl listening party in Nashville.
