Good Energy PR Launches Good Energy Amplifies Mentorship for Intersectional Disabled Musicians

Good Energy PR has rolled out a bold new mentorship programme, Good Energy Amplifies, that will spotlight disabled musicians who also belong to other marginalised communities. The initiative, set to launch this year, offers a comprehensive support package that ends with a free single‑track radio placement.

Good Energy Amplifies is a year‑long, structured program that pairs each participant with one‑to‑one consultations, group mentoring sessions and a series of guest talks. Industry veterans from radio, press, digital streaming, live performance, social media, branding and workflow management will guide artists through the intricacies of the modern music business. Every selected musician receives a complimentary single‑track service to a UK radio station, a tangible outcome that can boost visibility and streaming numbers.

Founder Jess Kangalee, who earned a spot on the Music Week Women In Music Roll of Honour in 2023, said the programme “exists outside of radio & TV plugging in 2026” and aims to “continue to amplify under‑represented voices and contribute to a more equitable music ecosystem.” She added that the initiative is part of Good Energy PR’s broader mission to support artists from marginalised communities.

Good Energy PR was founded in 2019 with a clear mandate: champion artists who have historically been excluded from mainstream promotion. The agency’s roster now includes global‑majority and LGBTQ+ musicians such as Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul, Falle Nioke, Jacob Alon, Kae Tempest and Kokoroko. In 2025, the firm recorded its most successful business year to date, with 22 singles playlisted across BBC Radio 6 Music.

The programme’s eligibility criteria are straightforward: applicants must be 18 years or older, identify as disabled, and hold an intersectional identity. The application window closes on 31 August. Good Energy Amplifies will run annually, selecting a different marginalised group each year while keeping intersectionality at its core.

Good Energy PR has partnered with a range of UK music‑industry organisations to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Collaborations include the Association of Independent Music (AIM), the Black Music Coalition, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, UK Music and Women In CTRL.

Industry observers note that the programme fills a critical gap for disabled artists, who often face compounded barriers in the music business. By providing tailored mentorship, networking opportunities and a guaranteed radio slot, Good Energy Amplifies offers a concrete pathway to greater visibility.

The initiative also aligns with broader industry trends, where record labels, streaming services and broadcasters are increasingly scrutinising their representation policies. The inclusion of a free radio service is a tangible step that could encourage other PR firms and labels to adopt similar models.

Good Energy Amplifies’ focus on intersectionality means that participants will receive guidance that acknowledges the multiple identities that shape their careers. Kangalee emphasised that “your unique point of view as an intersectional person gives you so much – whether that be culture, experiences, practices or creativity – and this is something that should be nurtured and celebrated.”

The launch was announced through a Music Week article and a LinkedIn post by Kangalee, both highlighting the agency’s commitment to DEI. While the full list of mentors and guest speakers has not yet been released, the structure suggests a mix of industry veterans from radio, digital distribution and marketing.

As the application window opens, artists who meet the criteria can apply online before the August 31 deadline. Successful applicants will join a cohort that will receive mentorship over the course of the year, culminating in a radio placement that could significantly boost their profile.

In summary, Good Energy PR’s Good Energy Amplifies offers a focused, intersectional support system for disabled musicians, combining professional development with a tangible promotional outcome. The programme represents a targeted effort to increase representation and provide practical tools for artists who navigate multiple layers of marginalisation.
