Sam Smith Announces Fifth Studio Album "Hazel Eyes" With New Single "My Guy"

On June 24, Sam Smith announced her fifth studio album, "Hazel Eyes," scheduled for release on August 21, 2026, and dropped the lead single "My Guy." The track, described by the singer as a song that had been waiting a lifetime to write and sing, was released alongside a music video that captures the glow and warmth of love.

"Hazel Eyes" is a 12‑track record released through Capitol Records, the label that has distributed Smith’s work since her debut. The album was co‑produced by Smith with Simon Aldred and David Odlum, and features contributions from Canadian singer‑songwriter Feist, bassist and composer Shahzad Ismaily, and violinist Rob Moose.

In the press release, Smith called the project "an incredibly special record to me." She explained that she had been writing it for over three years with a small group of close friends and that the album is very personal. "This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from the start to the finish and pushing myself at every single turn," she said.

Smith added that the music is "incredibly romantic" and that the creative process taught her many life lessons, which she has documented through the songs. She described the project as "an honest account of my life the last few years" and hopes it can be "a sweet escape for anyone who needs it."

"I believe, after this record more than ever, that love is a cure and music is a sanctuary and honesty is my north star," Smith said. "I can't wait to share it with you all. Thanks for sticking round all these years to listen."

"My Guy" was co‑written by Smith, Feist, and Ismaily. The accompanying video was released on the same day as the single.

The album follows Smith’s 2023 release "Gloria," which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was produced with a small circle of musicians. "Hazel Eyes" marks the artist’s first full‑length project in three years.

Capitol Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, has been Smith’s primary label since her debut album "In the Lonely Hour" in 2014. The partnership has supported multiple chart‑topping releases, including the 2023 single "Unholy" with Kim Petras.

Feist, a multiple Juno Award winner and Grammy‑nominated artist, brings an indie‑pop sensibility to the collaboration. Brooklyn‑based bassist and composer Shahzad Ismaily has worked across genres, while violinist Rob Moose, known for his work with indie and orchestral projects, adds string arrangements to the album’s sonic palette. Producers Simon Aldred and David Odlum contribute to the overall sound.

The release strategy for "Hazel Eyes" includes a staggered rollout of singles, a music video for the lead track, and promotional appearances on streaming platforms and radio. The album will be available in digital and physical formats on August 21, 2026.

"Hazel Eyes" is positioned to add to Smith’s extensive catalog of critically acclaimed work, which includes four studio albums, a number of hit singles, and multiple awards such as Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. The upcoming release will be distributed worldwide through Capitol Records’ global network.

The album’s launch is scheduled for August 21, 2026, and will be accessible on major streaming services, as well as in physical formats through Capitol Records’ distribution channels.
