Warner Music India Partners with SVF Entertainment to Enter Bengali Music Market

On June 17 2026, Warner Music India and Kolkata‑based SVF Entertainment announced a strategic partnership that will bring Bengali music to a global stage. The deal combines Warner’s worldwide distribution arm with SVF’s deep‑rooted regional network to promote Bengali artists, soundtracks and independent releases across the world.

Warner Music Group’s Indian division, launched in March 2020 under Jay Mehta, has already expanded into South Indian, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Bhojpuri markets through targeted investments and alliances. Mehta described the SVF partnership as a “pan‑India footprint” that will reinforce the label’s regional strategy.

Founded in 1995 by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni, SVF Entertainment has produced more than 180 Bengali feature films and distributed over 1,400 titles in multiple languages. Its music division manages a catalog of over 800 songs, ranging from film soundtracks and independent releases to live concert recordings and cross‑border collaborations.

In the joint statement, Mehta said, “Some of India’s most enduring cultural movements have emerged from Bengal, and its music continues to inspire generations across borders. SVF has been instrumental in building that legacy, making it the ideal partner as we cement our commitment to regional music in India.” He added that the partnership will “strengthen our presence in eastern India and create a pathway for Bengali artists, soundtracks and stories to reach listeners worldwide.”

Mahendra Soni echoed this view, noting, “For three decades, SVF has been committed to building platforms for Bengali artists, music and storytelling. As audiences increasingly discover regional music beyond linguistic and geographic boundaries, this partnership with Warner Music India gives us an opportunity to take Bengali music to a much wider audience.” He concluded that the collaboration will “create new opportunities for our artists and repertoire while continuing to support the creative community behind them.”

The alliance will leverage Warner’s artist development, publishing services and global streaming and licensing channels to place SVF’s catalog on major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, as well as regional services like Gaana and JioSaavn. SVF’s expertise in film music production and distribution will complement Warner’s strengths in marketing, rights management and international promotion.

Industry observers see the deal as part of a broader trend in which major labels tap into India’s diverse regional music markets. By partnering with local creators, Warner can access niche audiences while providing Bengali artists with the infrastructure to reach global listeners. The collaboration also underscores the growing importance of cross‑border cultural exchange, as Bengali music enjoys popularity in West Bengal, Bangladesh, Assam and Tripura.

While the press release did not disclose financial terms or a detailed rollout plan, it indicated that the partnership will begin with the licensing of existing SVF music catalogues and the development of new projects in collaboration with Bengali composers, singers and filmmakers. Both companies emphasized a long‑term vision that includes joint marketing campaigns, live‑event promotion and potential co‑production of original music content.

The announcement follows Warner Music India’s earlier partnership with Rthyms.Life, a creator‑first music ecosystem that aimed to accelerate the global reach of Indian artists. Together, these deals illustrate Warner’s strategy to build a network of regional partners that can deliver localized content to a worldwide audience.

As the partnership moves forward, stakeholders across the Indian music industry will watch closely to see how the collaboration influences the distribution of Bengali music, the exposure of regional artists on global platforms, and the broader dynamics of regional music licensing and publishing in India.

The current status is that Warner Music India and SVF Entertainment have entered into a strategic partnership, with plans to begin joint distribution and promotion of Bengali music content in the near future. No further details have been released at this time.
