Oliver Tree Dies in Rio Helicopter Crash During World Tour

A tragic mid‑air collision over Rio de Janeiro took the life of American pop‑rock star Oliver Tree on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The accident unfolded in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighbourhood, where two helicopters collided in mid‑flight before crashing into a car‑dealership parking lot.

According to the Associated Press, all six people aboard the helicopters were killed. Among the victims were Tree, Argentine YouTuber Gaspi and Argentine director Lucas A. Vignale. Firefighters extinguished a blaze that set several electric vehicles on fire. Investigators from the Brazilian military fire department and aviation authorities are still determining the cause, but no definitive explanation has been released.

Tree was 32 and was in Brazil to perform as part of his fourth world tour, The World’s First World Tour. Launched earlier in 2026, the tour includes more than 70 dates across 30 countries to promote his fourth studio album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly, released on April 24. His last performance was on June 6 at Studio Stage in São Paulo, Brazil. The next scheduled show was set for August 25 at The Van Buren in Phoenix, Arizona.

Studio Stage posted a tribute on Instagram, recalling the energy, talent and joy Tree brought to their venue and offering condolences to his family, friends, team and fans worldwide. The post read: “Today we received the news of Oliver Tree’s passing. We had the honor to welcome him on our stage and cherish forever the energy, talent and joy he brought to the Studio Stage. Our condolences to the family, friends, team and fans around the world. May your music, your legacy … continue to inspire generations. Rest in peace, Oliver.”

Tickets for the Phoenix show remain on sale through Ticketmaster, which has advised purchasers to contact their point of sale for a refund. No official statement has yet been issued by Atlantic Records, the tour promoter, or the venue regarding the cancellation of the remaining tour dates.

Tree’s career began in 2010 with music released under the name “Tree.” He signed with Atlantic Records in 2017 after the viral success of “When I’m Down.” His discography includes Ugly Is Beautiful (2020), Cowboy Tears (2022), Alone in a Crowd (2023) and Love You Madly Hate You Badly (2026). Songs such as “Life Goes On” and “Miss You” earned him international recognition.

The accident has halted the tour and left the music community in mourning. While the investigation continues, the next steps for the tour will depend on the aviation authorities’ findings and the decisions of the tour organizers. As of now, the only confirmed information is the death of Tree and the ongoing investigation into the mid‑air collision.

The incident underscores the risks associated with using helicopters for artist travel and highlights the need for stringent safety protocols in aviation operations. Brazilian authorities have not yet identified the bodies recovered from the crash site, and the investigation is expected to take several months before a final report is issued.

The music industry and fans worldwide await further updates on the investigation and the future of Tree’s remaining tour commitments. The loss of Oliver Tree is a significant moment for contemporary pop‑rock and hip‑hop communities, and his music will continue to be celebrated by listeners and fellow artists alike.
